Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned against the interference of foreigners in the Caucasus, stressing that the region should not become an arena for geopolitical rivalry.
به گزارش خبرگزاری ۶۰ثانیه، During a meeting with Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan in Tehran on Monday, Qalibaf said the Caucasus region is in need of stability and security, which must be ensured through the consolidation of established borders. “The region should not become an arena for geopolitical rivalry among foreign powers,” he emphasized.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that regional stability and security would be brought only through will of the people in the region, not foreigners. Tehran has advised the regional countries to rely upon their own capabilities and capacities to ensure stability in West Asia, emphasizing that the nations should not pin their hopes on any third parties to create security.
Qalibaf also said the intervention of trans-regional powers can contribute to insecurity and instability, citing the Persian Gulf region as an example. He added foreign powers are primarily seeking to exploit the resources and capabilities of the regional countries while pursuing their own interests.
